Armed Men Walk Into Nigerian Senate in Session, Steal Mace

Armed men led by a suspended senator walked into Nigeria’s upper legislative chamber in a plenary session Wednesday and stole the mace, Senate spokesman Aliyu Sabi Abdullahi said. He asked security agencies to retrieve the symbol of authority, which usually lies on the table before the Senate president, and apprehend the perpetrators, in an emailed statement. “It’s troubling that security is so low that a suspended senator can go into the chambers and steal the mace,” Clement Nwankwo, executive director of the Policy and Legal Advocacy Centre, said by phone from Abuja.

Headies 2018 Davido, Wizkid, Simi lead nominees list. The 12th edition of the Headies nominees list is out with Davido, Simi, Wizkid and Olamide dominating with multiple nominations. The nominees list for the 12th edition of the Headies is out. In a press statement released by the organizers of the Headies, Smooth Promotions, on Friday, April 13, 2018 "the awards academy released the list after short listing thousands of entries submitted in the year under review (from July 2016 - December 2017)." In the 12th edition of the Headies, there are over 25 categories and 77 nominees. Nigerian pop superstar Davido leads with six nominations. Singer Simi, Wizkid and rapper Olamide follow with five nominations each. There are new categories in this year's award ceremony. They are 'The Viewer's Choice Award', 'Best Performer' and a special category to recognize the efforts of brands that have supported the entertainment industry for the past 3 ye

Gospel musician, Tope Alabi has revealed how strict her mother was with her while growing up, especially when she started going to movie locations. In a recent interview with Punchng, when asked if her mother supported her music career, Alabi said: “Yes, she did because she was also a singer. She always sang around the house. She believed that one didn’t have to be immoral simply because she is a singer. Every other member of my family was not pleased with my music career but my mother never took offence".
